Bretton Woods - Background

Bretton Woods used to be known mainly as a good place for beginners, but new areas have jazzed up that image with black-diamond runs. Trails total over 100, on over 400 skiable acres; there's a half-pipe and several terrain parks. Check Bretton Woods site for the latest.

Often mentioned in the same breath is the Mount Washington Hotel: a historic grand hotel and National Historic Landmark, that partnered with Bretton Woods a few years ago.

Driving times to Bretton Woods are: from Boston, 2 1/2 hours; NYC, 5 3/4 hours; Portland, Maine, 2 hours.
